NIWI & NAPNAP
Fly in Day – Application Deadline
Sunday, November 15
Grassroots
Advocacy Award Nomination Request NIWI & NAPNAP Fly in Day The
Nurse In Washington Internship (NIWI) Program: is sponsored by The Alliance
and provides nurse practitioners and nurses the opportunity to learn how to
influence health care through the legislative process. The program will
take place on March 14 - 16, 2010 at the Liaison Capitol Hill in Washington,
DC. NIWI
participants have the opportunity to hear health policy experts and
government officials speak about current issues in Washington. The
workshop prepares participants for a day on the Hill and you will have the
opportunity to visit with health legislative aides and members of Congress
from your home state. Several NAPNAP members have taken advantage of
this opportunity and found it very worthwhile. Attendees come back with a
wealth of information to share with their chapters. NAPNAP
has six $1,500 grants available for Chapter members to attend the program.
The grant will help defray the costs of registration, hotel accommodations
and travel. To apply for one of the NAPNAP grants, send a C.V. or resume and
a letter of interest to Nicole Salomone nsalomone@napnap.org at the National Office.
Include in the letter any previous or current legislative experience, and
plans for how the program information will be used. Deadline for
contacting the National Office with your interest is November 15th. NAPNAP
Fly In: NAPNAP is also hosting its 3rd Health
Policy Fly In Day to coincide with the NIWI Conference. Attendees are
invited to participate in a day on the Hill, March 16, 2010, to speak with
health legislative aides and members of Congress from your state. This
is a great way to use your previous NIWI experience; however, you do not have
to have previous NIWI experience to attend this day. Attendees will be
responsible for all travel costs. **ATTENTION PREVIOUS NIWI/FLY in DAY PARTICIPANTS** Enter for a Chance to Win $200 If you are a
previous attendee of NIWI or the NAPNAP Fly in Day, you could be entered in a
drawing to win $200.00 that could be used to offset the cost of your hotel
room if you attend this yearÕs Fly in and bring a friend. To qualify,
you must be a NAPNAP member and your friend must be a first time Fly in Day
Attendee that is also a member of NAPNAP. You must fill out the
necessary information on the Fly in Day application for drawing
qualifications. Not a NAPNAP Member
but want to attend the NAPNAP Fly in Day? Do you know someone who is interested in participating in
NAPNAPÕs Fly in Day but they currently arenÕt a NAPNAP member, thatÕs OK! Non-NAPNAP members can
participate in the Fly in Day program for a fee of $100.00 to offset the
costs for materials and other expenses. Note, for an additional $65.00,
non-members could become members of NAPNAP and avoid this program fee and
experience the benefits of being a NAPNAP member Those
interested in participating in the Fly In, should
fill out an application and send a letter of interest along with their CV or
resume to Jennifer Knorr at jknorr@napnap.org at the National Office by February
